World Cup 2014 is coming (12 June to 13 July) The question in everyone soccer fan’s mind is “Where to Watch World Cup 2014 in Singapore?”. It’s way too expensive to subscribe to the Starhub package (costing around $112) on cable TV given the time difference. Singapore has been touted the most expensive place to watch world cup this year. The matches will mostly be shown early in the morning. It is true that Singapore’s Lion did not make it to this world cup this year but we do have a vision of seeing the Merlion there one day, with or without foreign talent. But this is an event that happens once every 4 years! There are of course the matches you can’t miss, including all the semi-finals, the final and matches that involve Spain.. The official site with the schedules is here.

But thanks be to some of the bars and pub, the coffeeshops and McDonald’s that are open in the wee hours of the morning. It’s not going to be easy given that you have to be up in the wee hours of the night and some may even watch a match and head to work.

Harry’s at Esplanade and Harry’s at Claymore is a possibility for those who want to catch any match. Bar Bar Black Sheep is another location in Bukit Timah. Hard Rock Cafe will be screening selected matches. Some community centers are hosting live screenings and you can find out more here. Safra Yishun will also be screening the matches and it’s a nice place if you stay in the west. The finals and semi-finals will be on free-to-air and you just have to find a location with a TV open at that hour.

Where can you find a place to watch a match? I am a true believer that desperate people will find their means and I am trusting you readers will have some inputs closer to the day. Please comment here and i will include your name and place in this post. Let’s share our known haunts as we come closer to the day. Let me know and i will post.
